Film Scores
Here are some scores I've done for independent scenes or scenes from short films.
For this scene, the main goal was for the score to grow along with the woman's concern. The Piano carries the main melody of this piece and sets the pace of the majority of the score. I used the strings to drive the emotional aspect of the news being delivered. Violin 1 carries the main Violin part. Violin 2 is added to harmonize wiht Violin 1 and the Violas. I chose to add Bass strings to layer the Cello and deepen the overall sound. The isolated Violin and ringing Piano chord on the last shot of the telephone is used to create a transition from the character's overwhelming despair to her comforting nature when the child enters the room. This scene with the child is only the Piano and the Cello; I wanted to keep this part simple so it could easily transition and reintroduce the other strings when the mood shifts in the next scene. The layered pattern of the strings on the first shot of the beach is used to indicate the shift of the mood into something a bit more lighthearted and playful. I chose to remove the Bass strings here and allow the Cello to carry the lower notes so the other strings don't get drowned out. The piano reaches a higher octave as the mood begins to lift as well. Violin 1 and the Violas fade out first, followed by Violin 2. The last note of the Cello rings out along with the last chord of the Piano.
Game Trailer Sound Design
This project was an opportunity to create the sound design and composition for a game trailer. The sounds were created by using various sounds found on freesounds.org and editing them to create an eerie atmosphere for the trailer. The composition was created using stock plug-ins on Logic Pro.
Action Track
The purpose of this project was to compose a short action trailer track with prominent percussion and strings as well as notable ostinatos.
